Though it was not a
religious wedding, the ceremony featured several traditional Jewish customs.
The best men, Mark Revesman and Alan Perkins, and maids of honor Nancy Ludlow and Cynthia Moore Stancil, led a procession of family members through the theater. They carried a huppah, the marriage canopy. The bride and groom followed, to Christopher Cross "Sailing". The wedding was officiated by our good friend Don Beyer, a former Lt. Governor of Virginia. It included lighting a unity candle, sharing wine with family members, reading the ketubah, and breaking a glass. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the bride and groom kissed and departed to the music of Styxx "Come Sail Away" (do you see a theme here??). |
